Dr. Guy McAninch

My family and I recently relocated to beautiful Monroe County from Northern Idaho. Why in the world would we move all the way from Idaho? We get that questions a lot. It is a long way, so we completely understand. I actually grew up in Western PA. About 15 years ago my parents, myself, and my sister’s family moved to Idaho. I met my lovely wife, ran a successful office, and we had all 4 of our children there. We still love Idaho, but we started to feel a little cramped. Raising our own food, gardening, farming, and giving our boys a childhood full of adventures in the mountains are all very important to us. Purchasing land in Idaho was extremely expensive and difficult, so we started exploring other options. That is when we discovered the little slice of heaven that is Monroe County. We visited and immediately fell in love. It was more than the jaw dropping farm scapes and beautiful mountains though. It was the people and the community that really won our hearts. We purchased our farm here in Sinks Grove, and have been continually blessed each and every day. We can not imagine a better place to raise our kids and call home.

When we began discussing moving away from Idaho, the desire for community was at the top of our list for our new home. This was hard to gauge when visits were short, but we prayed about it continuously. We have been so blessed by the community here in Sinks Grove. One day when driving through the center of town, we saw that the old “Bob & Bob International” building was being restored. We stopped and had a conversation with Mike who had grown up just down the road and had purchased the surrounding buildings to restore them and bring life back to the community. Mike was not sure what he was going to do with the building, but he expressed that he hoped a business would come in and open a coffee shop or cafe or something. We chatted a few minutes and then continued on our way. Over the next few weeks our desire to occupy the building grew. We knew it would work well for the chiropractic office, but my wife Tammy also wanted to start something that enriched the community with coffee, gatherings, and a place to connect. After chatting with Mike more, he weaved stories about growing up, gathering at the market for moon pies, and hearing stories of the farmers around him. Thus The Hunkerdown was born. This old general store that turned to a caving store, is now evolving once again into a community gathering space that will also be home to Sinks Grove Chiropractic.

Why did I decide on a career in Chiropractic?

After serving in the US Navy, I wanted to use my G.I. Bill to get a degree, however I could not figure out what path was right for me. I started college to get my general studies out of the way in hopes that I would figure out what I wanted to do during that time. During my education, I was always fascinated by anatomy, physiology and the sciences in general, yet I never even considered the idea of healthcare. I often noticed that the people around me would go to the medical doctor for “healthcare” and get pills that didn’t really help them lead healthier lives. It felt more like a hamster wheel than an actual solution to their health concerns…another symptom, another pill. My oldest sister had struggled with various health issues throughout her life, and had begun seeing a chiropractor. She had experienced incredible results with chiropractic care. She has always had a mentoring role in my life and often helped me make important decisions. One day she suggested I become a Doctor of Chiropractic, and I immediately knew that was what I wanted to do!

Education

I After completing my Bachelor of Science, I attended Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina for my Doctorate degree. There, I learned many things, but chiropractic philosophy was the most impactful. I came to understand how the body’s innate intelligence worked to maintain health, and how the body could heal itself when interference to the nervous system was removed and proper nutrition was obtained. After completing my Doctorate, I completed additional training in Chiropractic BioPhysics®, which is focused on posture correction and rehabilitation of the spine. I have also learned the Webster technique, which is helpful for pre and post natal care.

Business Modal

I graduated from Sherman College of Chiropractic in June 2002. I hit the ground running immediately opening a high-volume office in Charlotte, North Carolina. As the years went by, I realized that I was not happy with a fast paced office. I wanted to spend more time with each of my patients. I realized that the fancy equipment, high definition TVs, and 10 minute appointments were more about volume and financial gain than they were about patient care. I chose to take it back to what was truly important…Listening to my patients, offering personalized care, and investing in the health of my community. Once my family grew, I knew that I had made the best decision. I not only had more time for patients, but also my wife and children.

You go to the dentist regularly to prevent problems with your teeth. Chiropractic care is no different.

Insuring that your spine and body are moving correctly can help prevent a myriad of health issues for people of all ages. A common misconception is that once you go to a chiropractor you will always have to go. You’re not required to see a chiropractor for the rest of your life once you start. The choice to come back is yours to make. A lot of my patients feel better and feel that they function at a higher level when they choose to continue with chiropractic care. Some patients only come when they are struggling with a specific health problem or pain they can no longer ignore. I am happy to work on anyone, no matter how often they come in. I operate a low pressure office and will never push or pester anyone to make a commitment to a number of visits. You are in control of your health, and I want to give you the tools you need to feel great and live life to the fullest.

Here is what other’s have had to say…

“Guy is awesome! I started seeing Guy with lots of issues with my low back and problems with my feet. He doesn't do the "done 10 minutes" kind of appointments, they last about 30+ minutes and with very reasonable rates. I always leave feeling better than I did when I went in, and he's great about making sure you know what stretching you need to do to help the issue. I tend to be accident prone and Guy tries hard to get me in the same day when I call with an injury. Thanks to him I'm back at the gym and feeling much better after several years of pain. “

“Dr Guy is been our chiropractor for several years now and we love him. He is the best around. He always takes his time to make sure you are taken care of and all questions are answered. He is honest, professional, and extremely through. My husband and I are not good about making our appointments. He always sends us a text to check in and see how we are doing. It's always time for us to come in.. he knows us well! I recently had x-rays done, he made himself available the same day for me to come in so he could look at my x-rays. He got me on a treatment plan and within a week I feel better than I have in years. Thanks Dr guy for all you do!”

“I have been taking my 8 month old to see him. I love how he takes his time, fits me in when I need him too and is so sweet with my baby! Ive noticed a big change in my son's health and wellness! My 3 year old has only met him once but now affectionately referres to him as that Dr. Guy.”
